Visit to Australia - December 2004

My Company (Lloyd's Register Rail) had asked if I could spend a short time on business in Australia during December 2004.  Having checked the availability of Queensland bogie castings, and making sure that there was a miniature railway event happening over my "spare" weekend, I agreed.

I landed in Sydney at 06:00 on the 5th December, spent 5 days working with RailCorp (Sydney mass transit system owner) looking at their signalling control system then had a weekend free before flying to Brisbane to see US&S then back to the UK on the 15th December (landing back at Heathrow at 04:45 on 17th December).

On the Sunday of that middle weekend I went to see the Hornsby Model Engineers at the Galston Valley Live Steamers.  As ever with model engineers I was made to feel extremely  welcome and a very special thanks must go to Terry Lane (Tel) who drove some considerable distance to collect me from Sydney and take me to the railway and also to Warren (from the live steamers)  who spent the who day with us, introducing us to the other members, walking us around the track, arranging our hot dogs and generally making Tel and I feel very welcome.
